When I left my corporate law firm in order to become the personal attorney to a chief mafioso, I envisioned glamorous business trips to the Sicilian or Tuscan countryside. Instead, I get sent Nowheresville, West Virginia in order to close a boring deal, and rather than negotiating with high powered New York businessmen, I’m stuck schmoozing with sleepy local politicians. But just because a town is small doesn’t make the local good old boys any less corrupt than the mobsters in New York. Or any less deadly.

In the old days, they called my job “consigliere,” but these days I’m just a young lawyer with a very specialized practice. For example, my job today is to get rid of a corrupt District Attorney who is in the pocket of a rival organization. In the old days—actually, I don’t want to think about how they would have handled it in the old days—These days, I’ll have to run a dark horse political campaign for our preferred candidate without the powers-that-be, the media, or our rivals finding out. And failure isn’t an option when you work for the mob.

After thwarting the corrupt Mayor and Brooklyn DA at the polls, their NYPD lackeys are out for our blood and cracking down on our business. I’m going to have to spend half my day in court defending our guys from petty or trumped up charges and the other half coming up with a plan to expose the Mayor’s ties to organized crime and bring his political machine to the ground. To do it will require dodging corrupt off-duty NYPD, Serbian gangsters, and the wrath of the recently returned family patriarch who definitely wants to handle things the “old school way.”

The Serbian mob overplayed their hand, and Papa Sal is back in charge of the Febbo family. The two rival families are poised for war, and there is only one person who can stop a battle that is sure to be bloody and costly. Me. As the consigliere for Anthony Febbo, I’m positioned in a place to give him advice that will keep him out of trouble while still triumphing over his enemies, but to do that I’ll have to come up with a plan good enough to satisfy Sal and delay him from using “old school” methods of settling the score. If I can’t stop the war, I’ll be in the crossfire.

Never steal from a mob boss. A low level car thief accidentally steals Anthony’s brand new Ferrari and he tasks attorney Hunter Morgan with getting it back without involving the police. But what appeared to be a small time operation turns out to be a major international car theft ring, and to get the Ferrari back, Hunter will have to outsmart Chinese mobsters, corrupt NYPD, and British billionaires. If he can’t, there is no telling where Anthony Febbo’s wrath will fall.

With the Serbians out of the picture, the other Italian families in shambles, and Sal set to retire, Anthony decides it’s time to start a new order among the New York crime families. But old habits die hard, and a power vacuum always invites competition, so the Febbo family will have their hands full fending off attacks from both the old guard and the up-and-comers. If Hunter wants to prevent an all out mob war, he’s going to have to use the law to protect his clients and fend off his enemies, but doing so may attract unwanted attention...

The Febbo family is besieged from all the feds want to pin the murder of the mayoral candidate on them, the Dominican syndicate is making moves against them, and the Italian underbosses are looking to move up. Febbo boss Anthony is being tested, and if he shows any weakness one or all of the wolves around them will attack. Family consigliere Hunter Morgan has a plan to turn the enemies against each other. If it succeeds, Anthony’s position is strengthened and the Febbos continue moving forward towards legitimate business. Failure means an all out mob war and the heavy hand of the FBI.
