He is surprised to see Berit Butler, the woman he once loved and abandoned years earlier, reporting on the case. He was tired of gambling his life away, one lonely night after another. She was struggling to keep her family together. Maybe they could take a chance on love… together. Perceval Hillard isn’t anything like his namesake from Arthurian Legend, but the men who sit down to a poker table with him, call him “Hill.” They knew they’d likely leave with their pockets empty and a sour look on their face. He’s made a fortune over his life and lost enough to know he’s nearly done. He wants a life away from the table. That didn’t mean marriage. What woman would want a man who’d made his living shuffling a deck of cards and that he’d wasted years of his life. Faith Carver could barely remember what it was like to be happy and carefree. All her younger brothers could remember were long days and cold nights. They lost their father first and their mother to illness after that. Selling off their mother’s precious collection of books has gotten them so far, but when their travels puts a strain on her brother’s health, they stop in Sweetwater Springs, and Faith needs to find a job to cover their expenses. Hill is sure he’s seeing things when he finds an angel wiping down the table at the Saloon. She was made for quiet days in a home full of things as beautiful as she is, not working until her hands are raw and red. When he finds out that Faith isn’t traveling alone, he’s surprised that he finds himself warming up to the Carver family instead of running in the opposite direction. Falling in love with an innocent like Faith might be the biggest gamble he’s ever made. When Faith decides it’s time for her and her brothers to move on, will Hill fold, or will he decide that this ready-made family is in the cards for him? She has also published six sci-fi, space opera romances, which she calls westerns in space. Along with these books she has also published eight boxed sets of her books. Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia's father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy, not a bounty hunter, and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now), not the ranch owner. Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and her great critique partners for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity. Pseudonym for Chris Marie Green and Christine Cody A long time ago, in a land far, far away (Milwaukee, WI, St. Luke's Hospital), Chris Marie Green (also writing as Crystal Green) joined the world. While moving to Southern California, Kentucky, then back to California, she amused herself by writing poetry and short stories featuring the ultimate Alpha males—Superman and Indiana Jones. Later, after graduating with a B.A. in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Chris decided to become a professional writer. While she wrote, Chris worked as an eighth-grade teacher, but resigned in 2002 to pursue writing full time. Her critique partners, Sheri WhiteFeather and Judy Duarte are instrumental in her endeavors. Without these talented authors, writing would be a lonely road. Chris is pumped about her Vampire Babylon series for Ace, which is best described as "noir fantasy-mysteries" featuring a vamp hunter. The first five books, NIGHT RISING, MIDNIGHT REIGN, BREAK OF DAWN (which compose the first trilogy), plus A DROP OF RED and THE PATH OF RAZORS (the first two books in the second trilogy) have already been released. The sixth, DEEP IN THE WOODS, will be on shelves on March 2, 2010. A Vampire Babylon-related novella was released in an anthology entitled FIRST BLOOD. (Note: The Vampire Babylon series uses trilogy arcs to tell one basic story, much like the way JK Rowling used seven books that didn’t solve every plot thread book-by-book to tell Harry Potter’s story. While each individual novel focuses on a central mystery that’s solved by the end, the three books together build character and mythology arcs/mysteries until everything culminates in the third book. Each trilogy repeats this pattern.) Chris is also writes Silhouette Special Editions ("home and hearth" tales of redemption and community) and Harlequin Blazes (steamy fantasies), and whenever she can, she travels, including backpacking trips in Europe and road trips in America . She also enjoys yoga, hiking, and way too much movie-watching. For any press inquiries, please contact Chris’ agent Pamela Harty at http://www.knightagency.net/contact/.

When I was a child, I used to ride up and down the dumb waiter, hoping to see all kinds of magical creatures. In my dreams I could fly. I made up stories for as long as I can remember. Is it any wonder that I became a writer? I pen stories in several different genres. Most of my books have humor, and are either romances or have romantic elements and they usually have some mystery going on as a subplot. My first books were published by Dorchester Love Spell. I'm an avid reader and a voracious science fiction and fantasy fanatic.
