What if every fairy tale you’ve ever read was … real? Harper Reed has pretty standard seventeen-year-old goals: graduate high school and get into college, preferably one as far away from her interfering mother and prima donna sister as possible. But that's before Harper’s sister vanishes into thin air—literally. Desperate to find out what happened to Arianna, Harper reluctantly accepts a ring from a mysterious man who promises answers. Upon touching the ring, Harper is transported to a world called Faylin; a place where the fairy tales of Harper’s youth aren't just stories—they're actual history. Not only is Arianna nowhere to be found, but the Faylinian people are clearly terrified by Harper’s very presence. Harper soon finds herself in the middle of the Faylinian Council, a group committed to protecting fairy tales. Council members include Snow White, Prince Charming, and the very handsome, young Duke of Claymore, who seems to be drawn to Harper just as intensely as she is to him. As Harper gets more entwined in their world, her beautiful sister reappears—and the duke definitely notices. Making matters worse, a powerful dark force threatens the entire kingdom. And the more Harper and her new crew try to fight the evil, Harper's faced with a startling realization: what if she hasn't been called to Faylin to fight the darkness … what if she's the very cause? A note from the author: Thanks so much for your interested in Never After! While I hope that you love it, I want to be really transparent that this is not like other Lauren Layne books! It’s first-person POV (heroine), and because she is seventeen, her voice is quite young. Additionally, it’s fantasy, so while there is a romance, it’s not the primary plot line. Lastly, it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, though most of the major plot threads of book one are resolved.
