In the near future scientists have found a way to miniaturize the human body to the size of a cricket, and millions of people have chosen to live out their lives in mini-utopias free of poverty, hunger, and for the most part, crime. When Craig and Terry Milford lose their life savings in a bad investment, and their only daughter a month later, they decide to sell everything they own and miniaturize. Yet when Terry backs out at the last minute, Craig finds himself on his own in the strange new world—and discovers it's not all it's cracked up to be.
