"What did you expect?" Harriet said in angry surprise. "That I'd be thrilled to see you again? That I might have forgotten what a selfish swine you really are?" Without stopping to think, she stepped forward and slapped Andre hard across his coldly amused face. For an awful moment she thought he was going to strike back.
