The humorous ballad Pani Twardowska Twardwska was written in 1821 by the famous Polish writer and poet Adam Mickiewicz. Pani Twardowska was such an unbearable woman that the protagonist himself offers the devil to make this woman his wife. The devil, fearing such a married life, fled in horror.
