Dear Author, I have this painting I did a few years ago that I'd love to see where an author could take it. The set up is: The magician's apprentice risked a dangerous spell to rescue the arrogant prince with whom he's fallen in love. The prince realizes his own feelings have changed from animosity to love; this after a series of confrontations that didn't bode well for a relationship. By the looks of it though, the HEA afterglow is blissful. Photo Description: An impressionistic painting of two naked men in a tight standing embrace. One, bulkier and paler with hair that appears gray, holds the other man almost off the ground, hands tight on his ass. The other man wraps his arms around his lover's shoulder's. His skin has a tracery of dark lines and he appears to have dark-feathered wings. This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Hot Summer Days" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story. Read the story here or find it in Don't Read in the Closet, Volume 3. __________ Genre: fantasy Tags: gay m/m, fantasy, m/m, romance, magic, sorcery Word Count: 14,027

Julie Lynn Hayes was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri, and still calls that city home. She first began to write over fifty years ago, and doesn’t see that stopping anytime soon. She likes to write in different genres, to stretch herself in order to see what is possible. When someone tells her something can’t be done, she feels compelled to do it. Much of her writing is in the m/m romance category. When she isn’t writing, or working at her day job with a third party elevator inspection company, she enjoys crafts, such as cross stitch and crochet, and watching her favorite programs.
