Dear Author, See this guy? He's away from the ranch and the life as he has known it for the first time. He found a room in this, well, shabby inn, but mysterious things seem to happen all around. Things vanish, people don't remember that they met before (or pretend to) and someone threatens the owner of the inn (seemingly for no reason). And now, coming home from a long day of looking for a way to provide for himself, he finds somebody in his room, going through his things, drawing his secrets into the open. A bad thing? Or maybe his chance to start a new life with a new kind of love? I would be thrilled to read his story! Photo Description: A black/white photo of a muscular man standing in an old building. He's wearing white boxers and a cowboy hat, carrying a jean jacket and his black cowboy boots. The door behind him stands open; the one in front of him shows his silhouette in the frosted window. This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Hot Summer Days" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story. Read the story here or find it in Don't Read in the Closet, Volume 1. __________ Genre: contemporary Tags: gay m/m, erotic, cowboys, FBI Word Count: 4,250

I have been a voracious reader all my life, mostly in mystery, romance, and science fiction/fantasy, though a college degree in English did push a lot of literary works into my list of favorites. I began writing seriously in high school after an inspiring assignment with A Separate Peace by John Knowles. But it took getting an MFA in creative writing to kick-start my career. Since then I've written dozens of books, won a couple of treasured awards, and enjoyed the support of readers. I hope you'll visit my website, where you can sign up for my occasional newsletter, and also follow my author page on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/neil.plakcy. I love writing cozy mysteries as well as gay mysteries, M/M romance and gay erotica. My golden retriever mysteries were inspired by my own goldens, Samwise, Brody and Griffin, who continually give me ideas for new books.
