Ranya Paasonen (nee ElRamly) is a Finnish writer. Paasonen has spent her childhood in her father's homeland Egypt, as well as India, Chad, Saudi Arabia and Libya and moved to her mother's homeland Finland in 1987. Paasonen graduated Master of Arts degree from the University of Helsinki in 1995, majoring in Semitic languages. In her first novel she tells a story of a girl that has grown between two cultures. The girl tells her parents' love story and describes the family's life in Egypt, Libya as well as in Finland.
