An epic tale of violence and war from the National Book Award-nominated author of IN A DARK WOOD. Lismond has trained all his life to take up an oar as a Viking warrior on the Raven. Wiglaf has spent his days in the quiet of a monastery, learning the arts of healing as a monk's apprentice. When these two lives intersect, the result is a clash of cultures and wills—all taken to a breathtaking conclusion.
