An imaginative adolescent enjoys rewriting police stories for his friends, but ends up finding drama and mystery in his own daily life. The relationship between the apprentice writer of police thrillers and the book's plot provides one of the driving forces for this narrative. However, it does not interfere with the stylized presence of the historical moment coursing through Bolivia where the story is set. The lead character's ruminations becomes the basis for understanding this setting: the social climate, motivations and collective behavior of the Bolivian upper-middle class.
