Part of Series
The new president of El Salvador has done little to curb the bloody hit-and-run strikes by Communist rebels and the knee-jerk response of the Salvadoran army. When a key U.S. State Department official is assassinated in broad daylight, Uncle Sam fears a new wave of concentrated Red support. Phoenix Force is dispatched to find the target and eliminate it. On the war-torn streets of the capital city, the Force jumps from the fire and into the frying pan. With the CIA and a load of heavy politicos on their back, they are forced to hold hands with the fanatical head of the national police - a mad dog with his own visions for "saving" El Salvador. But even as the Phoenix warriors risk life and limb, they get the feeling that no one really wants peace in Central America.
Author
Phoenix Force is a series of action-adventure novels first published in 1982 by American Gold Eagle publishers. It is a spin-off of the Executioner series created by Don Pendleton. Phoenix Force is one of two neutralization teams working for Stony Man, a top-secret anti-terrorist organization. As with The Executioner, the Phoenix Force novels have been written by a succession of authors under the pseudonym Gar Wilson. In 1991, Gold Eagle combined Phoenix Force with another Executioner spin-off series, Able Team, and launched the Stony Man book series, which is still being published as of 2005.
