When Logan Becker's family embarks on a "house swapping" venture and spends a summer in a beach town in Oregon, Logan is filled with big expectations. Likewise, Tricia Merrit, the daughter of the other family, is thrilled to be in the farm belt of Minnesota. But when Logan meets and falls for the beach boy surfer of her dreams, then tragically discovers he's Tricia's boyfriend, she must come to terms with her hurt and confusion. Meanwhile, there's another boy who is drawn to Logan—the totally uncool Grant Duncan, who is busy persuading City Hall to launch a campaign to clean the local beaches. Can Logan come to realize that true love often reveals itself in unexpected ways?
