Sanditon is one of Jane Austen’s two unfinished novels (the other being The Watsons). The fragment was started in January of 1817 and abandoned by March of that same year and was never completed. It was originally transcribed and published in 1925 by R.W. Chapman under the name A Fragment of a Novel. The working draft follows Charlotte Heywood and her adventures leading up to a summer in Sanditon. This edition features the uncompleted fragment of the first eleven chapters as written by the author. For further reading, various authors have written completed endings to the novel over the years, including the popular 2019 PBS drama series by the same name.
