Rob's father collects clocks. They tick reassuringly throughout the house. And then, suddenly, they all fall silent. In the bedroom of Rob's little sister, Rob's father and mother disappear. It is as if they never existed. The two strangers who arrive at the house know more than they are telling. They are Sapphire and Steel.
