A sassy chef meets a closed-off bartender and neither was ever the same. Calla Spade has seen too much heartache. She refuses to dwell on the past and tries her best to keep everyone at arm’s length. Less love in your life means you’re less likely to get hurt. Somehow, she can’t keep Reed away and she wonders if there are some things in life that are worth taking the risk for. Reed Hamden has had his own share of tragedy and he blames himself every day. When a drunk and gorgeous woman asks him to stay for just a little while, he finds himself in a place that he never thought he could be again. How could he be willing to take such a gift when he doesn’t deserve it? Two people full of guilt, regrets, and an unwillingness to open up somehow find each other. If they want a future, they’ll have to come to terms with what’s happened before and try to accept that they deserve more. But as they both take those steps forward, the past comes back and threatens to destroy everything they’ve built. Getting through it means learning to trust, learning to let go, and most of all… learning to hope. This book contains adult content that may be sensitive for some readers, including the subject of suicide. It is not recommended for readers under eighteen-years-old. Scars of Hope can be read as a standalone, but it's recommended that you read the series in order to avoid spoilers.
Author

Kay Gordon is a married, mother of two living near the west coast. She spends her days teaching young, impressionable minds in public school and evenings typing away furiously once her children are in bed. She loves to take her characters on a journey, making that happy ending even better! Her favorite genre to read is Contemporary Romance but won’t hesitate to try anything with promise. One of her favorite past times is to read the book and then go see the movie while forcing her husband to listen to her point out all of the differences in real time. She’s still not over what Harry did to the Elder Wand in DH2. When she's not teaching or writing, Kay loves to spend time with her family and friends, although she doesn’t ever say no to a good nap. She’s an avid lover of hockey and can be seen cheering for her beloved Nashville Predators- no matter how much they frustrate her. Kay always welcomes feedback and comments (or even just a healthy argument about why Backstreet Boys are better than *Nsync) so please don't hesitate to reach out!
