Southwest Nights

2021

Five years ago, everyone knew sorcery and magic were nothing but myths. One spectacular incident proved them wrong. Now men and women of power flaunt their supernatural abilities openly, using them for both good and evil. Sorceress Lyssa likes her reality TV and strawberry ice cream, but her day job of hunting down rogues and criminals doesn’t leave her much time for either. And that’s when she’s not worrying about containing a powerful and dangerous spirit forced on her. Paranoia is her other hobby, and it’s hard to burn away all evil in the world when she’s not sure if she’s working for the good guys. There’s also the small problem of people from her past popping up and trying to kill her. When gangsters surprise her with powerful artifacts on what should have been a routine mission, Lyssa is drawn into an investigation that threatens to upend what she thinks she knows about her past. With two enchanted guns and an attitude, this is one sorceress who isn’t going to let anyone stand in her way.

They say there’s no rest for the wicked, but there’s even less for those hunting them. A surprise message about Lyssa’s brother from the island home of the sorcerers destroys her new-found balance. How can you be sure a war fought in the shadows is over? Lyssa’s dramatic victory on Last Remnant signaled the end of her lonely crusade. The former pariah Sorceress has become the preferred tool of her Elders. Sometimes a house is so infested the only choice left is to tear down the entire thing. Reports of terrorist Sorcerers and a bold daylight assault on an old friend call for a snarky woman good with two enchanted guns. Burn The World

2022

There’s nothing worse than being unable to trust one’s own power. Lyssa thought the Night Goddess was her ally. After an out-of-this-world international incident, she’s no longer sure. Despite the risks, Lyssa can’t hide on Last Remnant. A series of thefts in Miami might be far more sinister than they first appear, and the Tribunal needs their best asset to investigate. Reputation is a double-edged sword. Lyssa’s alleged allies are nothing but trouble. A local Sorcerer doesn’t appreciate the arrival of a high-profile outsider taking over his investigation, and government agents are more concerned with CYA than taking down bad guys. A fire can burn away the darkness, along with everything else. A mysterious and ruthless new faction is also interested in the thefts. The developing three-way race to the truth pushes Lyssa to her limit. Lyssa isn’t certain she can win without the help of the unstable Night Goddess. She’ll be forced to decide how high a price she’s willing to pay to save innocent people. The problem is death isn’t the worst thing that can happen to a person.
