Nate Winslow owed her family a favor. Yet only dire financial straits forced Courtney Martin to contact the elderly family friend. Gratefully she accepted his generous offer to live at Hearthstone, his sumptuous Green Bay home, while she put herself through college. There, to her dismay, she discovered his son, lawyer Thomas Jefferson Winslow, had labeled her an undesirable and accused her of trying to work herself into his father's good graces. But Courtney wasn't going to be goaded by Jeff's mocking verbal attacks. She'd prove herself a match for him—she could give as good as she got!
