Sherlock Holmes is in Japan, following his epic battle with the evil criminal mastermind, Moriarty... The beautiful wife of the famous translator and wealthy merchant, Saigo Matsuyama, appears to have hanged herself... Matsuyama's previous wife (again a well-known beauty) was seemingly murdered by one of his employees - who then committed suicide... Holmes is certain that Matsuyama was responsible for both deaths. But as he struggles to prove this, Matsuyama ingeniously makes the famous English detective appear utterly foolish... Now it is imperative that Holmes succeed in solving this case - or his reputation, both within Japan as well as abroad, will be forever destroyed... PLEASE This is a (very close) retelling of 'The Hanged An Ennin Mystery #64'. I have reworked the original story in order to pay homage to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his legendary creation, who inspired me from childhood. By the same author - SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE AUSTRALIAN '(Sherlock Holmes and the Australian) An excellent Holmes story in the classic tradition. Quite a lot of people have tried to imitate A. C. Doyle over the years, and some of them have failed miserably - but this is one of the successes, in my opinion. Holmes solves a crime right under Inspector Lestrade's nose, without the latter realizing. There is also an amusing scene when Holmes has to"translate" one character's Cockney rhyming slang for a bewildered Dr. Watson...'
