Ten-year-old Cody and his dog, Pup, would lead out, with cattle following them. The second night camp was made and cattle circled and bedded down. Frank, Cody’s grandpa, bragged on how well he did today. “You’re keeping the right speed, boy. Couldn’t ask for better.” The next morning just as coffee and breakfast were over, seven riders came firing guns and stampeded the cattle. Frank and Karl grabbed guns and were quickly shot down.
