the Life of the Legend charts the evolution of the Supermarine Spitfire, from its early forebears and the Schneider Trophy racers to the last of the breed. Using many unpublished photos, first-person accounts, unique memorabilia, and special “up-close” images of key marks, the story of this iconic aircraft—arguably the most famous fighter of all time—is recounted in vivid detail. Audible throughout are the voices of those who flew the “Spit,” and whose remarkable endeavors ensured the aircraft’s lasting legacy as a symbol of hope and defiancé.
