Canadian Security Intelligence Service officer Garrett Downing is on the hunt for Canadian military goods that have gone missing. Instead, he finds himself coming to the aid of a young Canadian woman with more resourcefulness than common sense. Isabelle has no choice but to accept a stranger’s help in getting back home to Canada. Once there, however, as enemies turn into lovers, it soon becomes a game of keeping secrets. Opposites attract in this contemporary romance When weapons placement expert Dr. Irina Glasov’s top secret military project is compromised, Irina has only one place to turn. All work and no play, espionage definitely isn’t her game. Intelligence officer Kale Martin is all-in to help the reserved but very sexy Dr. Glasov find her man, and getting the brilliant software engineer to let down her guard long enough for things to heat up between them quickly becomes a game Kale plays to win. Irina’s not foolish enough to trust a man who lies for a living, and she’s well aware Kale’s been lying to her. His Spy at Night

2016

For love of the game. Canadian Security Intelligence Service officer Marlies Wiersma plays hard and loves harder—sometimes with disastrous results. After falling for a man who wasn’t who he pretended to be, Lies is anxious to prove to her boss that she won’t make the same mistake twice. She accepts an assignment which pits her against a charming crime lord—and alongside a diplomat with no patience for spy games, particularly feminine ones. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. When a national security threat results in Canadian Defence Trade Commissioner Harry Jordan harboring a spy in his embassy office, his instincts scream that Lies Wiersma is a woman not to be trusted. The two of them are supposed to be on the same team, but Lies is a little too good at these games for Harry’s personal comfort. He’s been burned by a woman before. Harry’s reluctance to play along proves to be too much temptation for fun-loving Lies to resist, and once again, she finds herself in over her head with a man. This time, however, he’s exactly who he claims to be. Now Lies has to convince Harry that, no matter who she pretends to be during the day, at night she’s all his.

Her Spy at Dawn

2017

It’s a high-rolling game. Intelligence officer Dan Hanson once made a decision that cost him his best friend’s life and taught a valuable lesson about following orders without question. He now has a well-deserved reputation for calmness under pressure and the unwavering loyalty of his team. When Dan is asked to work with a government police investigator to bring down a corrupt politician, he doesn’t hesitate. However, when the sexy investigator turns out to be the love of his life—and his dead best friend’s ex-fiancé—he second guesses the past decisions he’s made. Police investigator Alycia Evers has loved and lost. Twice. And if the past has taught her anything, it’s that life is short, it isn’t always fair, and she should rely on no one but herself. Being handed a case the Department of Justice believes can’t be won is a challenge she’s eager to accept, but the discovery she’ll have to work with the man who once broke her heart means the stakes are dangerously high. Dan’s hiding secrets he can no longer keep and Alycia’s not sure she can face. He’s never stopped loving her. She has no intentions of loving again. When the sparks between them reignite, turning into an inferno of epic proportions, can they learn to forgive and forget and look to the future, not the past?

Paula Altenburg grew up in rural Nova Scotia knowing that at some point in her life she was likely to be a fiction writer. Swapping Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey books with her father guaranteed she wasn’t going to be the next Jane Austen, much to the dismay of her English teacher mother. A degree in Social Anthropology from the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, again meant writing was the logical (meaning only) career path for her, although it did confirm her belief that learning is a life-long experience. She’s taken business courses, writing courses, and physiology of aquatic animals courses, all at the university level and all for fun. She has worked in the Aerospace industry, although now makes writing her full-time career. Happily married, with two terrific sons, she continues to live in rural Nova Scotia but makes a point of traveling as much as she can. She reads in all genres, but fantasy and contemporary romance are her writing loves.
