It all started with a pie baking contest. Amy’s Bakery had won every year for twenty years. My mother never lost and when I took over the bakery I continued the winning streak until Leanne and Sprinkled With Sugar came along. Her apple pie blew my cherry pie out of the water that first year and has beat me every year since no matter what I try. It would be frustrating, but it’s hard to be mad at such a beautiful dessert, and I’m not talking about the pie. She’s sweet as pie and absolutely edible. She’s all smiles for everyone except me. She thinks I have a vendetta against her simply because she’s the new reigning champion of the Sweet Lake Festival pie contest. I don’t. No the only problem I have with her is how much she hates me. This year I’m determined to win. Not only the contest, but her heart.
