A brand new Western adventure from Charles Ray! On his way back to Garland after finishing a job in East Texas, J.D. Pettit decides to stop overnight in Palestine, the halfway point in his journey. His arrival coincides with two groups of professional card players who are there to participate in a high-stakes poker tournament arranged by Palestine’s mayor and the owner of the town’s biggest saloon. When one of the gamblers is shot dead in an alley near the hotel, the town marshal asks for J.D.’s help in finding the killer. The mayor pressures J.D. and the marshal to solve the murder before the tournament starts. With too many suspects and no evidence, they follow one blind trail after another in what J.D. fears will be a futile effort. But J.D. is a Texas Ranger, and, in addition to there being a killer on the loose, the Rangers’ reputation is at stake.
