The show must go on and Duke is replaced by a mysterious newcomer who arouses Jayne’s suspicions. Is Earnest just annoying or does he have much darker secrets? When a child is killed, all signs point to Earnest as the murderer. Jayne needs to get hard evidence against him but, when other troupe members become implicated in the murder, she isn’t sure who she can trust. Nothing is what it seems and even Duke’s Wheel of Death becomes more than a simple circus prop. Before the truth can be revealed, she must learn the secrets of the troupe, journey to uncharted territory and come face-to-face with the enigmatic Carnival Society.
