Jacob takes down a bank robber near Calabash Crossing, and decides to turn the man in there so he can reconnect with his friend, Sheriff BJ Kincaid. Upon arrival, BJ, and her best friend, Mazie Carter, an entertainer at the Silver Dollar Saloon, make that reconnection complicated. Then, BJ imposes upon Jacob for help in solving some mysterious cattle disappearances, leading to a tense stand-off with a bloodthirsty band of rustlers and a murder of ravenous crows. Life hasn’t been simple or easy for Jacob since he resolved to spend his life ridding the west of evil, but he realizes that, until his return to Calabash Crossing, it has been fairly uncomplicated. Now, complications are the main challenge he has to deal with.

I've been writing since my teens. In addition to writing for several newspapers and magazines in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa, I've written two books on leadership and a number of fiction works. I'm also a published poet, photographer, and artist. I write in several genres, reflecting my broad reading tastes. I spent 20 years in the army, retiring in 1982 and becoming a diplomat. I've worked in about 10 countries and traveled to about 30 more, mining each for material to write about.
