Boon, Billip, Georgio, and Nikkel go back to the Outland to join in the war against the underlings.

Danger rises ...
Hunkered down in Dwarven Hole and reunited with Mood and Chongo, Venir, Melegal, Kam and company find themselves in the midst of a nefarious plot when the unheard of happens. Murder. As outsiders, Venir and his friends, along with Elypsa, the female underling sword saint, stand among the accused.
Fogle and Brak's liaisons with Jarla the Brigand Queen deepen on their journey through Bish and into Two-Ten City where more danger awaits.
The underlings iron grip in the City of Bone begins to loosen as Royal allies scheme with one another to take their city back. But Master Sidebor shows no mercy to the want to be usurpers.
War is coming and the first great battle for Bish begins in the Badlands.

Wasting away...
Venir and Melegal return to the City of Bone ready to stick it to the underlings who took over their home. Life turns out to be even worse on the inside than on the deplorable outside. Fighting their way through the evil menace they seek allies that are hard to come by.
Meanwhile, the dwarves led by Mood the Blood Ranger, entrenchment themselves in the Columns outside of the City of Bone when a dangerous surprise from the sky arrives.
Brak, Jubilee and Fogle find themselves lost in the Red Clay Forest where new enemies rise and over take them.
Will they all survive? Or will Bish send some to the grave once and for all?

Slaughter in the Streets

The Black Reign begins ...
The City of Bone's citizens are being hung from the gallows and slaughtered in the streets by the underling menace. In an attempt to deliver a lethal strike Master Sinway, Venir and Melegal put their trust in the mage, Altan Rey, from Castle Kord.
Billip abandons the City of Bone so that he can make notify Mood and the dwarves of Venir's plans. The dwarven army is cornered by the underling army at Black Column that is closing in. Billip unites with a host of his old allies, including, Fogle, Slim, Brak and Jubilee. On Mood's order they are told to head back into Bone where they search for Venir and Melegal.
Boon seeks an alliance with the dwarves and the hated giants. How will he get it?
Georgio and Lefty find themselves in the Mist and encounter a strange enemy that wants to kill them.
Trust is hard to come by in the every changing world of Bish. Not everyone can survive.
