Bella cowered beneath the kitchen table, listening to her father and her uncle arguing. Then she was whisked from her home only to watch it burn to the ground with her parents inside and her uncle fleeing unseen by any eyes but her own. But Bella the child grows up as an unwelcome servant in Uncle Jacob's house with no recollection of the finer details of the events that rendered her an orphan at the age of five. Joshua Miller was an orphan too. He was also a successful Montana rancher with a yearning for a wife and children to share his success. He commissions two agents to arrange for a suitable bride. Cruel as fate is, Uncle Jacob happens to have a long affiliation with one of the agents, and soon enough the now grown up Bella is sold off as a Mail Order Bride, unaware of the financial transaction she is unwittingly an integral party to. Meredith had loftier ambitions than her current position as maid to Joshua Miller. When she discovers his plans to marry a mail order bride, her ambition knows no bounds, and she becomes hell-bent on destroying the young woman she is tasked to integrate into life on the ranch. Conspiracy, deceit, cruelty and underhandedness begin to erode the love that is blossoming between the rancher and the orphaned young lady from New York. But they also serve to float the memories long submerged in the mind of a traumatized daughter. What will become of a lady robbed of her childhood, bought and sold like a farm animal, and pushed into being the beast of burden for all the ills that befall the Montana ranch and its handsome rancher? Will it become a fairytale ending or the stuff of nightmares?
