A lovely young Russian, Nina, wife of the newly appointed conductor of the local orchestra in a town which one suspects is intended for Rochester, New York, arrives, weeps her way into many hearts, and suddenly decides that it is her mission to put soul into the community. Just how she does it and plays havoc with the conventions leaves the reader a bit breathless.
