Squadleader Roddem Despaldi and his fellow Murguard recruits are assigned a mission on their first day in The Fractured Lands: Venture into the chasms and rescue soldiers held captive by deranged monsters. Led by Captain Brogan Reisner, a seasoned Murguard veteran with an enchanted sword, the soldiers venture into hostile territory, facing monsters most only believe exist in legend. This short story takes place fifteen years prior to the main Fate of Wizardoms series.
