A collection of articles, talks, and ideas It’s safe to say the classical music industry has had a rough few years. The COVID-19 pandemic halted performances and interrupted every part of our daily lives. This shock to the system made us adapt, discover new ways of doing things, learn new skills, and find any way to keep the music playing and our organisations running. Over 2 years later, many people and organisations in the classical music world are now trying to “get back to normal” and return to the old way they used to do things. From them, this shock to the system was just a temporary blip in extraordinary circumstances and it’s now time to go back to business as usual. But for some, they began to question the whole system. Why are audiences shrinking? Why haven’t we made the most of digital opportunities? What is the concert going experience in the modern world? Is there a better way of doing things? The classical music industry faces many challenges. For it to survive, we need to start having conversations on what the future looks like and how we get there. This book exists to be a starting point for those conversations. It’s for those who are curious, questioning the status quo, and wondering what the future of classical music may look like..
