A fictional short story set in rural 1950s Latin America, where Nicholas Vidal is told he is doomed to die by the hand of a woman and in trying to prevent the prophecy he shuts all women out, becoming an outcast and vandal. One of the stories of "The Stories of Eva Luna" published in Spanish in 1989 and in English in 1991.
