A musician wakes up the whole floor in a hotel late at night. The night clerk ("house dick") tosses him out. Unfortunately, this musician knows the owner, so the clerk, Steve Grayce, finds himself fired. He goes to an address and finds a body; then meets more people, and finds more bodies. When he returns to the hotel, an unsolved killing is mentioned. It leads to an old scandal, and back to the murderers.
