William Roper (First printed edition 1626). There have been many books (plays and movies) of this great saint, but this book, written by St. Thomas More’s son-in-law, is the definitive one. This book, while scrupulously preserving the diction of the original manuscript, endeavors to remove some of the accidental barriers between Roper’s book and his modern reader—to carefully update some of the spellings and punctuation. But Roper’s book remains “old”—nearly four centuries old. The only things changed were obstacles to the enduring truth, and the understanding of that truth. Beautifully illustrated, gold embossed hardcover with full color applique, 60 lb. cream paper, 130 pages.
