Life in the Palace

2014

“We need to talk,” Tal said. Then I knew it was going to go badly. ‘We need to talk’ is the conversational equivalent of walking into your basement without turning on the light, on a dark and stormy night, when a known psychopath is on the loose. You might as well cut to the chase and slit your own throat. Chloe Diaz assumed three things: that when Tal said that she was one of The People sent from heaven to maintain the cosmic balance, it was code for ‘I’m a pamphlet distributing, incense burning, religious weirdo;’ that the gorgeous Seth Wilks would never be her soul mate and that she’d never have to choose between them. Chloe was wrong. Now the future of the world is in her hands, but what if price is too great to pay?

Sing a New Song

Jen's Story

2014

“Anyone can be popular as long as they have friends that they don't like." Jen Stef knows what she wants out of life........ to make herself the most popular Freshman on campus, proving that popularity means nothing. She doesn't plan to embrace her heritage as one of The People. Or access higher spiritual realms to save the world. She left all that 'sent from heaven to maintain the cosmic balance' stuff behind when she stopped going to camp. Let someone else explore their ethnic heritage, Jen's busy exploring the finer points of the delectable Sven Ivers. But when Jen makes friends with the uber-cool Chloe Diaz, she discovers that destiny is hard to avoid. Sing a New Song is a companion novel to the Palace saga, telling Jen's story and spanning the time period between Life in the Palace and To Call Your Name. It can be read as a standalone novel but contains minor spoilers for To Call Your Name (and major spoilers for Life in the Palace.) Warning- The Palace Saga is a series about people who choose to leave the secular world and dedicate themselves to a higher power (aka live a life of faith.) It is not necessarily written for religious people. If the occasional swear word, allusion to pre-marital sex or double-entendre involving mashed potatoes is outside your comfort zone, then this is not the series for you. (Although, feel free to read it anyway and then leave a one star review bemoaning the level of realism.)

To Call Your Name is the heart-stopping sequel to Life in the Palace.

Warning- The Palace Saga is a series about people who choose to leave the secular world and dedicate themselves to a higher power (aka live a life of faith.) Author of British paranormal romance series The Redcliffe Novels, Catherine Green was raised on books from a young age and has happy memories of Saturday mornings spent in her small local library, devouring the contents of the shelves. Catherine has always been fascinated by the supernatural world, and it feels natural for her to write about vampires, werewolves, witches and other mystical creatures in her contemporary stories. More recently, Catherine released her contemporary English Gothic novel, Vampire of Blackpool. These novels will show you the darker, sexier side of our favourite British seaside resorts! Catherine is currently working on a new series of novels featuring vampire hunters that work in and around Manchester and the North West of England. In high school, I was in the in-crowd. In college, I became religious. Talk about going from one end of the social spectrum to the other. My high school friends thought aliens had taken control of my body. I put up with the bemused looks and did what I felt I had to. Fast forward over a decade and they're still waiting for me to grow out of it. At the same time that I got sick of people thinking that being religious was synonymous with having a full frontal lobotomy (or voting Republican,) I noticed something was lacking in the books I was reading. The mainstream media has a fairly narrow depiction of religious people; (usually blowing up the plane, killing the abortion doctor or opposing gay marriage.) While faith based literature paints a picture so rosy, it's hard to live up to. I was on a mission to show what life really looks like inside faith communities without sounding like a late night infomercial. (For a limited time only, this attractive steak knife set comes free with every order of Salvation.) The Palace Saga is the result. The real scoop on what it means to live a life of faith, with no hard sell, all wrapped up in one snarky, sassy package (with a healthy side serving of romance).
