Well, I survived my first week at Sacred Shields. Professor Hankins is a walking, talking contradiction. I hope Professor Mountcastle is as sweet as she looks, and Professor Pembre is, well, cool as hell. Jaques, on the other hand, is the devil incarnate. I legitimately might die in Grim Defense Training. Then there’s The Dark Prince. Who knew I’d ever meet someone actually worthy of that name? There is so much Ty and I didn’t know about our world! Why, and how, there came to be three different classes of reapers. How reapers and mages bond. Why reapers even have mages to begin with! Though we always have been, and always will be, best friends as well as twins, we’ve both made strides in giving each other the space to build friendships with others. I don’t think Ty will ever grow out of overprotective, big brother mode though. Especially when it comes to my friendship with Rafe. Ty says there’s something off about him, but all I can see are those broad shoulders, gorgeous eyes, and the coffee he brings me every morning before class. He may be a little over the top, but I think it’s sweet. Plus the attention he gives me doesn't hurt, either. And don’t even get me started on Nikos. Ugh. Winter is here, bringing with it one of the most terrifying yet exciting moments of my life… The Solstice Ball. Shopping, girl talk, mage bonding, and dating. All normal activities for a young woman my age- well, maybe not the mage bonding but that part I am truly thrilled about. The rest are incredibly intimidating when you’ve led a low-key life like I have. Let’s be honest. I would much rather spend the day with my books than actual people. Unless those people are Novalee & Emilee, my two new besties. Or Ty, my pain-in-the-ass twin who I can’t live without. Or Rafe, the incredibly handsome, sweet campus hottie who only has eyes for me. Shoot, I’m pretty sure I’d be okay hanging with Professor Pembre or Dean Shields, too. But all others? Ick. Human interaction. Especially when it comes to that broody douchecanoe, Nikos. Spending time in his presence drives me crazy. It’s bad enough he has to show up every single night in my dreams, tempting me with his words. Teasing me with his incredibly toned, marked body.
