For fans of TJ Klune’s Wolfsong , V.E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic , and KJ Charles’s Charm of Magpies . A bisexual wolf-shifter who longs to be human. A man immune to magic. A bond that could bridge two worlds—or destroy them both. Diesel Cade has spent his life trapped in the enchanted forests of the supernatural realm, hiding the part of himself that most defines his a wolf-shifter. Within the pack’s boundaries, the world still moves as if it’s the 19th century—gaslight, horse-drawn carriages, and strict traditions. Diesel craves the hum of modern city streets, coffee shops, and the freedom to be more than the role he was born into. When Diesel smuggles a pickup truck into the forest—a bold act of rebellion against the elders’ rule to keep their world cloistered—it ends in flames. Mat Kwan, a grieving firefighter from the human realm, is already deep in the forest after being lured in by vampires looking for fresh blood. Immune to magic—and the vampires who use it—Mat pulls Diesel from the burning wreck. Now Mat’s presence threatens the fragile balance between the human and supernatural worlds. The pack sees him as a danger that must be eliminated. But as danger closes in, Diesel and Mat are drawn together by something neither can deny—something as forbidden as it is impossible to ignore. If you fantasy colliding with a contemporary settingLGBTQ+ romance with slow-burn longing and emotional depthFound family, forbidden love, and protective shifters…then The Rise will sweep you into a richly imagined world where love is both a rebellion and a home.

I'm an openly gay author owned by his dog, named Bandit. (Hold on Bandit...I'll be right there. I'm busy!) My husband and I recently moved from the Witch City of Salem, Massachusetts to sunny Florida where I'm now able to focus on my writing. (When Bandit isn't making me take him for walks or requesting a biscuit for the treat jar.) In 2013, I released a book of short stories called NOT SURE BOYS which received great reviews of which I am forever grateful. I followed up in the fall with a novella—a brooding, dark thriller—called PAINTING WITH WINE. The “sexy time” in the wine cellar has been quite the topic for discussion around the dinner table. (Yes, Bandit...one more minute!) Oh, before I forget. I’d love for you to sign up for my mailing list. Why? So I can send you personal tidbits and other content not shared elsewhere—not even on my blog. But you have to sign up on my blog to get it. You can do that by clicking here. Oh, and I promise no spam! (Alright, Bandit. Enough already!) Well, that’s it for now. Keep reading and sharing with me the books you love. (Imagine Bandit pulling Rick’s pant leg out for a walk. Yes, Bandit taking Rick for a walk.)
