Our home in the wilderness was supposed to be safe. It’s what brought me back when the world chewed me up and spit me out. The isolation from evil people, though, was only a façade. No matter where we live, there is pain and suffering, caused by others. You can’t escape it. Only our family truly understands this. Mental torment shreds us from the inside out. And a piece of my heart must leave to find treatment in the place that shattered me. Everything in me begs to stay, but for family, I’ll go anywhere. Even back to hell. I’m needed to be a light in a dark, lonely world when I’m nothing but a flicker. Eyes for those who cannot see. A hand to hold and guide the way. But protectiveness soon becomes obsession. Simple touches that used to heal now create unimaginable fire. Chaotic. Obliterating. Incinerating. Illicit. Disgraceful. What I want calls to me more deeply than any drug I’ve succumbed to before. The desire for something so precious and fragile is consuming me. Everything could be destroyed if I even placed a single kiss on those forbidden lips. The heat of this addiction is now coursing through both our veins. I don’t know how to stop it. We’re high on it. I can fight this need, though. I’m stronger than I once was. Unfortunately, I’m not strong enough for the both of us…
