Legend has it that whoever possesses the Holy Lance that pierced Christ’s side at the Crucifixion—and unlocks the spear’s supernatural powers—holds in his hands the fate of the world. Major Allan Quatermain, a British veteran of the Special Service Brigade, is contacted by MI2 and Her Majesty’s Life Guards to locate the spear before the Nazis can find it and use its purported supernatural powers to advance their evil agenda. They also have intel that Hitler may be alive and seeking the artifact. Dr. Julius Byrd, the only man who may know the location of the spear, is missing. Quatermain tells Hannah Byrd, an art historian, that her father may have been abducted by the Nazis. After a confrontation with an intruder, Allan and Hannah head for Istanbul to find her father, save him from the Nazis, and recover the spear. As they travel under the guise of newlyweds, Allan knows they are being followed. Danger arises at every turn—and so does his attraction for Hannah. On the Orient Express, Allan and Hannah meet a baron who served under Hitler. But is he a friend or a foe? While hot on the trail of both Dr. Byrd and the spear of destiny, the pursuer becomes the pursued, and Allan knows that the fate of the world depends on him.
