The unsuccessful novelist Hitomi Hirosuke dreams every day about making an earthly paradise. One day, he hears news from a friend that gives him an idea about how to realize this dream—but only if he is willing to commit a frightful crime to do so. This is an English translation of the novella by the acclaimed Japanese author Edogawa Ranpo. The novella was originally released as a series that ran from 1926 to 1927.
