Dark Roads’ guitarist, Evan Foster, had every reason to distrust women, thanks to his absentee mother. Despite her, he turned into a soft-spoken, laid-back man with a never-ending smile, who loved women as much as they loved him. While the band had been as much his dream as it had for the others, he had truly done it for them. Now, like his bandmate, he was ready to go home to Maine and settle down. He hadn’t anticipated that love would come from the most unexpected of places. Julie Lane was an independent, competent woman who ran her own company. Passed down for generations, Lane & Son Management Co. was started by her grandfather and she strived to make the family proud with continued success. In the middle of a drawn-out divorce, she uses the time to expand into Maine with her new business partner. The one thing she hadn’t planned on was a relentless man, determined to win her injured heart. Will Evan be able to convince her he’s ready to commit to just one woman? Or will his past blow back in and ruin everything he has worked so hard to overcome? Does Julie have the strength to protect her heart while opening it up to another man? Can she get out of her marriage without losing what she fought to build?

Marcie Shumway is a small-town girl, born and raised in Maine. She resides with her high school sweetheart on a family owned farm just miles from where she grew up. Her hubby and their four furbabies are her first loves, but they are followed closely by her writing, apple pie, and chocolate. Marcie started writing short stories in middle school for her classmates to enjoy. They were always love stories with happy endings and spurred her dream of being a published author. Chasing that dream as an adult, she continues to write stories for her readers to love. An avid reader herself, Marcie thrives on the books of her favorite authors and when not writing, can be found curled up in her favorite spot with a good book in hand.
