In the fifth installment of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter, Chloe has been forced to make her decision to leave the community earlier than anticipated. To keep her family safe, she leaves with the vampire Trevor, who she had previously discovered was her father and the man responsible for her mother’s murder. Chloe is now in an entirely new element. She is not surrounded by vampire hunters anymore, but living with one of those which vampire hunters strive to kill. Living with Trevor, Chloe’s only human contact is the housekeeper and the tutor Trevor hired to teach her. After nearly a year of being a prisoner in Trevor's home, Chloe begins to believe it may not be so bad.
