The Walking Dead: Michonne's Story, is shown in Michonne's past prior to when the apocalypse started. It was published on March 16, 2012 in Playboy magazine. Similar to the comics, it is written by Robert Kirkman and drawn by Charlie Adlard. It is a brief story consisting of six pages, which also portrays two other survivors of the apocalypse, Michonne's boyfriend, Mike, and his best friend, Terry. The prequel is confirmed for the April 2012 volume of Playboy magazine.
