Two years ago, Beth's husband and daughter were killed in a horrific car crash. Now they're back, visiting her in the night and haunting her every waking moment. As Beth struggles to work out whether the ghosts are real or figments of her imagination, her neighbor John - a world-famous horror writer who mostly stays out of the spotlight - offers to help. He's convinced that ghosts don't exist, but when Beth's experiences take a darker turn, even he is forced to admit that he might be wrong.
