The Galactic Empire of the Ancients fell over ten thousand years ago. The ancients were able to accomplishe miracles, including moving planets, and even stars, into new orbits. Without their hand on the tiller things have gone very wrong. Patrick's only chance of saving his world is to find the control station that runs the graviton beams that had been used to keep the orbits steady. Teaming with Alyssa Suarez, an agent of the Republic that is trying to win its war against the evil Theocracy, along with her genetically engineered cat, he battles to save his world while aiding her in preserving hers. Watcher, the genetically engineered superman who was created well before the Fall, aids them with informtaion some of his own people, including a group of fierce aliens who are just what they need to survive some of the environments they will be traversing. And Colonel Nathan Chung of the Theocracy Marines is still alive, despite Patrick believing he had killed the man. Chung is determined to find the advanced tech his people need to beat the Republic, and he and his people will go to any lengths to get it. Including allowing the destruction of a world that is the habitat of hundreds of millions of people.
