In a world transformed by a solar event, the fight for survival persists. Casey grapples with drastic changes after the Montana National Guard takes control of his community. A curfew, confiscation of supplies, and constant surveillance make it clear that the community needs a drastic change. A theft unexpectedly leads Casey to a partial solution, though it’s the last path he wishes to take. The imaging team in Detroit continues making significant progress, yet Daryl’s line of contact to Casey remains severed. Nevertheless, the world advances, and the reemergence efforts of the Detroit facility are in full swing. Bulldozers emerge from the underground paradise and begin paving the way for modular buildings to be built, and with a mix of human workers and construction bots, labor isn’t a concern. Tommy finds himself embodied in the form of a humanoid robot to interact with the real world. With more developments surrounding the occupying National Guard in Montana, Thoth begins making moves. But can he resolve these issues before it’s too late? This novel has increasingly more sci-fi aspects to it, but aside from what has been introduced previously and what occurs over the course of this book, the elements won’t grow much heavier.
