Jan Brzechwa, born Jan Wiktor Lesman was a Polish writer of Jewish descent. He is mostly known for his contribution to children's literature as well as for his translations of Russian literature, translating works by Aleksandr Pushkin, Sergey Yesienin and Vladimir Mayakovskiy. His cousin was Bolesław Leśmian.
