The seventh book in a brand new Mountain Man adventure series from D.M. Haggard! Wilder Hawk’s trek home from Montana to the southern Rockies is interrupted when Crow raiders attack three stranded wagons not far from his camp. The stragglers are part of a wagon train, left behind when they stopped to nurse a sick family member. Wilder catches up to the train in hopes of convincing its leader to wait for the stragglers, but the callous and inexperienced wagon master abruptly quits, leaving the pioneers to their fate. Wilder leads the train through the rugged Yellowstone region and eventually to California. The unexpected trip brings pleasures and perils—a pretty woman who sets her cap for him, the tragic death of a child, an attempted ambush by Paiute Indians. His road home, a journey of over a thousand miles through the deserts of Nevada and Arizona, brings him to Fort Mojave, where he saves a young Hopi accused of cattle killing. This chance encounter ultimately lands Wilder in the midst of conflict between the Hopi and the Navajo. Can he and the Navajo chief, Bidziil, forestall a tribal war? Grab your copy today!

D. M. Haggard, aka D. M. Horridge, was born in Texas, raised on cactus, dust, and a strong family. When I was very young, I would visit my uncle's farm in San Antonio and work side by side with my seven cousins baling hay, swimming in a round cow trough, and hunting rattlesnakes. I've hunted and fished all over the United States, and have worked like a trojan on my own ranch in Texas. I've written short stories and professional articles for a variety of marketing and professional magazines, but only recently started writing western adventure stories. I like learning about the real characters of western history and use them in a fictional way. I feel like I am preserving their memory and the heritage they left for us over time. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife of 55 years, two terrific children, and a million friends. I try to leave a message in every book that says to the reader, "we are all part of this world of ours and we need to work together to keep it from falling apart." My family is the most important part of my life. I have also been blessed with four fabulous grandchildren and two spouses of our children who have brought a wonderful depth to our family and extended family. One of my favorite subjects is the Texas Rangers, a group of tough, honorable, and law-abiding men and women. Only recently I have begun a series of children's books named "The Amazing Adventures of Two Boys." They represent many of the stories my father told to my brother and me as children. Always exciting, but not frightening, they give me great pleasure to write and publish on Amazon under my father's name, Don Horridge, and my name D. M. Horridge. All of the proceeds from these children's books are donated to children's ministries throughout the world. Thanks for listening.
