In Baltimore, Jelena Lengold offers an exquisite portrayal of a Belgrade writer, a woman in her forties, whose tightly packed, unresolved inner conflicts with herself and the people closest to her have led her to a sobering dead end. She is compelled to turn around and look closely at the routine of her everyday life – her marriage, family, friends, loves, lies and the likes. What she finds is a strange mixture of uncertainty and boredom, insecurity and determination which grow into fullblown frustration at sessions with her therapist. The writer’s block the protagonist suffers from is a metaphor for a blocked life, a life led in the recesses of reality represented in bouts of silence, web cam voyeurism and Internet flings.
Lengold’s prose style – witty, sharp and somber– strikes a resounding tone for telling the truth of one of our lives.

Un du-te-vino captivant intre dezbaterea din jurul unei fetite de 11 ani, insarcinata in luna a sasea, si povestile autobiografice. In Hai sa furam pepeni sint narate intimplari savuroase ori cutremuratoare, pretext al unor reflectii uneori amare, alteori apologetice, memorialistica intilnindu-se in mod fericit cu fictiunea. „Fluxul constiintei“, desi prezent, nu inlocuieste intriga, romanul nefiind unul „intelectualizant”, ci unul in care filonul de autentic prozator al Norei Iuga transpare fara straduinta.

„Голямото меню“ е книга за самотата на детството в огромния буржоазен дом, с подредения му живот, включващ неизменното храненето на общата трапеза, ритуала по лягането, капризите на майката, четивото на бащата преди сън, играта с куклите… Външно детето е безупречно, но вътрешно то се бунтува, вие от болка и мечтае да надмогне стените, които го отделят от непосредственото и живо човешко общуване.
Романът е носител на наградата „Сороптимист“ за творба на френскоезична романистка (2002) и финалист за престижната белгийска награда „Росел“ (2001).
Книгата е част от поредицата „Женската памет“.

Corinne Hoex est une écrivaine belge contemporaine qui vit à Bruxelles. Elle est née le 13 juillet 1946. Licenciée en histoire de l'art et archéologie, elle a travaillé comme enseignante, chargée de recherches et documentaliste, et a publié plusieurs études sur les arts et traditions populaires. Depuis 2001, elle publie des romans et de la poésie. Prix *Le Grand Menu a obtenu le Prix Littéraire 2001 des Amis des Bibliothèques de la Ville de Bruxelles, ainsi que le Prix Littéraire Soroptimist 2002 de la Romancière Francophone. *Ma Robe n'est pas froissée a obtenu le Prix Indications du Jeune Critique 2008, ainsi que le Prix Emma Martin 2008 de l’Association des Écrivains Belges de Langue Française, et que le Prix Gauchez-Philippot 2010. *Décidément je t'assassine a obtenu le Prix Marcel Thiry 2010. *Contre Jour a obtenu le Prix Delaby-Mourmaux 2010 de l’Association des Écrivains Belges de Langue Française. *En 2013, Corinne Hoex a reçu le Prix Félix Denayer de l'Académie Royale de Langue et de Littérature Françaises de Belgique pour l'ensemble de son œuvre et plus particulièrement pour Le Ravissement des femmes.

Born on 15 July 1959 in Kruševac, Serbia. She has published eleven books which include six books of poetry, four books of stories and a novel. She is represented in a number of anthologies of poetry and stories, and her works have also been translated into a number of foreign languages. Jelena Lengold has worked as a journalist and an editor in the culture desk at Radio Belgrade. She has afterwards worked as a project coordinator of Nansenskolen Humanistic Academy in Lillehammer, Norway for the subject Conflict Theory. Since September 2011 she has been a freelance artist, dedicated solely to writing as her only profession. For the collection of stories The Fairground Magician she received the following awards: Biljana Jovanović, Žensko pero, Zlatni Hit liber, as well as the European Union Prize for Literature in 2011.

A tradus din August Strindberg, E.T.A. Hoffman, Nietzsche, Knut Hamsun, Barbara Bronnen, Elfriede Jelinek, Herta Muller, Ernst Junger, Oskar Pastior, Gunter Grass, Aglaja Veteranyi.
