From Yusuf Bilyarta Mangunwijaya was an architect, writer, Catholic priest, and activist. Romo Mangun (Father Mangun) was publicly knowned by his novel "Burung-Burung Manyar" which was awarded Ramon Magsaysay Award for South-East Asia Writings on 1996. Not only active in the fiction genre, Romo Mangun also wrote many non-fiction and architectural works such as "Sastra dan Religiositas" [ Literature and Religiosity] which won The Best Non-Fiction prize in 1982.
